PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS

The preschool child has the capacity and curiosity to begin to understand the complexities of the world around them. With the guidance from teachers, parents and, input from peers and adults in the community they learn to understand their puzzling world and learn to master activities to make order of it. These early years are an important testing and proving ground for the conviction that they are original and that they are loved.

The preschool program will provide learning experiences developmentally age-appropriate for ages 3 through 5 years. These will include opportunities to:

• Develop self-discipline in a structured environment designed to help them to learn to accept, integrate, and direct their thoughts and feelings.
• Develop language skills through conversation, stories, word games, records and tapes, visual aides, etc. as well as through experience with seeing written words, numbers, and books.
• Develop a mathematical understanding through counting, measuring, comparing, grouping, estimating, sorting, etc.
• Learn first hand about their world through visits and trips and vicariously through stories, books, poems, and songs.
• Develop large and small muscle coordination and physical skills through use of games, puzzles, tools, paints, crayons, clay, sand, water, etc and building, carrying, climbing, lifting, balancing, swinging, running, jumping, etc.
• Developing friendships with peers and adults, learining conflict-resolution and communication skills, and expressing their needs emotionally and socially.
• Preschool curriculum also includes going to the park in our community and exploring parks in other communities, playing in our play yard and other activities including many many field trips, book mobile and going to the library.

PRESCHOOL SAMPLE SCHEDULE
